Yes. Danxiashan (丹霞山) is a photography day of red cliffs in Renhua County, Shaoguan, Guangdong. The mountain is the type locality of the Danxia landform and component 1335-006 of China Danxia, UNESCO World Heritage List 1335, inscribed in 2010 under decision 34 COM 8B.1 on criteria (vii) and (viii). The UNESCO maps page prints the property at 16,800 hectares, with a buffer of 12,400 hectares, at 24°57′55″N 113°42′12″E. The same ground is also Danxiashan UNESCO Global Geopark, designation date 2015, area 29,200 hectares, northeast of Shaoguan City. Those are two files. They are not one ticket. I am Frank Zhang. I live in Suzhou. This page is how an independent traveler shoots the Guangdong red-cliff core in 2026 — Self-Guided or Tailor-Made — without buying a group photo tour. Hangzhou food is paused. West Lake is a different city and a different day. This page is red sandstone, side light, and marked overlooks in Guangdong. It is not a human form in the rock, not an interior, and not a night product.
The search "Danxiashan photography tour" usually lands on a locked coach, a whistle at three postcard decks, and a desk before the next gate. The shoot people keep is slower: a real-name scenic ticket confirmed on the official channel, a base in Renhua or on the Shaoguan side close enough to reach a marked overlook before the first usable light, and enough time on one red face to work the beds as the light moves. Those are planning facts, not a ticket-price table I invent, and not a reason to treat every named district on a Guangdong map as one photograph.
Treat the records as the reason the red beds stand where they sit, not as a brochure checklist. A hard distinction belongs on the first page of this guide. This page is not Langshan Photography 2026. That live sibling owns Danxia peak clusters in Xinning, Shaoyang, Hunan. Langshan is China Danxia component 1335-005, property 6,600 hectares, buffer 6,200 hectares. The serial property is shared. The photograph is not. A ridge overlook of an isolated tower in Hunan is not a Guangdong red cliff at the type locality. We link Langshan. We do not rewrite it, and we do not paste its peak-cluster essay onto this Renhua ground.
This page is also not Longhushan Photography 2026. That live sibling owns Danxia river cliffs on the Luxi River in Yingtan, Jiangxi, under China Danxia components 1335-007 and 1335-008. The word Danxia is shared. The frames are not. A Jiangxi river corridor with water under a wall is not this Guangdong component, and it is not this ticket. We link Longhushan. We do not rewrite it, and we do not copy its river-and-niche essay onto this Shaoguan day. If a marked bank or a designated boat on this ticket already faces a Guangdong gorge, that is still this URL. It does not become the Luxi corridor because both pages use the word river.
This page is also not Zhangye Danxia Photography 2026. That live sibling owns colored-ridge platforms near Zhangye, Gansu. Wikipedia's Danxia landform article states that Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park is not included in the China Danxia World Heritage Site. Same color word, different province, different listing, different ticket, different frames. We link Zhangye. We do not turn this Guangdong red cliff into a rainbow-ridge platform day, and we do not rewrite that hub.
This is Guangdong red-cliff photography — not coastal rhyolite on Yandang Mountain Photography 2026, not granite peaks and cloud seas on Huangshan Photography 2026, and not a multi-region camera plan on China Photography Trip 2026. A careful itinerary can place Langshan, Longhushan, or Zhangye on another day of another trip. It cannot make a Hunan tower, a Jiangxi river niche, or a Gansu platform appear in a Renhua cliff. You stand on the marked overlook, you wait for side light on conglomerate and sandstone, and you shoot. You do not need a photo guide with a whistle.
Landscape lock, not a photo-tour SKU
The monument is a protected landscape and a serial World Heritage component in Guangdong, not a merchandise package. China Danxia was inscribed in 2010 as a natural serial property on criteria (vii) and (viii). The brief synthesis describes landscapes developed from continental reddish conglomerate and sandstone, also called red beds, in a warm humid monsoon climate, shaped by endogenous forces including uplift and exogenous forces including weathering and erosion. That is the rock you are photographing in Renhua. It is not limestone karst, even when a slot looks dark. Wikipedia records the published label pseudo-karst for this family of landforms, and it notes that the hollows tend to be shallow and isolated rather than deep connecting networks. Do not treat a slot as a cave system you can enter, and do not photograph an interior.
The UNESCO list page names six areas: Chishui, Taining, Langshan, Danxiashan, Longhushan, and Jianglangshan, on a crescent of about 1,700 kilometres from Guizhou Province in the west to Zhejiang Province in the east. Danxiashan is the Guangdong area on that arc. Chishui sits at the western end. Taining is another component. Jianglangshan sits toward the eastern end. Name them so you do not drive to the wrong province and call it this shoot. Do not build those guides on this URL. The 1,700 kilometre figure is the serial arc. It is not a road from Shaoguan, and it is not a day you finish before lunch.
The hectare lines do not match, and they should not be forced to match. The World Heritage component 1335-006 is 16,800 hectares, with a buffer of 12,400 hectares, on the UNESCO maps page and on the Wikipedia serial table. Those two cells sum to 29,200. The UNESCO geopark page prints 29,200 hectares for Danxiashan UNESCO Global Geopark. Note the arithmetic. Do not treat the equality as proof that the geopark, the World Heritage component, and the scenic ticket are one gate. An older geopark citation on the Wikipedia Danxia landform page prints about 290 square kilometres of streams, forest, and towering rock. Twenty-nine thousand two hundred hectares is 292 square kilometres. Cite 290 against 292. Do not average them. The serial property is 82,151 hectares on the maps-family total. Wikipedia also prints a six-region core of 73,945 hectares and a buffer of 65,446 hectares. Those figures measure different published editions. Cite each figure with its source. Do not invent a reconciled hectare total, and do not paste any of them onto a ticket window.
The age lines do not match either. The current UNESCO geopark page says the red sandstones and conglomerates were formed by fluvial deposition between 140 and 65 million years ago, and the next sentence says the Cretaceous ran from 140 to 66 million years ago. Cite both. Do not average 65 and 66. Wikipedia's Mount Danxia geology paragraph uses 140–65 million years ago for the same basin, then says that since six million years ago the basin has risen intermittently, on average about one metre per 10,000 years. That average is a published geological sentence. It is not a trail statistic, and it is not a reason to leave the path. A different essay on the Wikipedia Danxia landform page, written around this Guangdong mountain and citing an older geopark page, says red sandstone and conglomerate were laid down around 80 million years ago, that faults came after another 15 million years, and that uplift around 23 million years ago belongs to the Guangdong ground of that essay. Cite the disagreement. Do not paste a Hunan or Jiangxi stage word onto this component. The serial inscription says the property as a whole reflects young through mature to old. This page does not invent a Danxiashan-only stage label.
The name of the landform is a color word. Wikipedia records that the first studies of what are now called Danxia landforms were conducted at this mountain near Shaoguan, and that the name refers to vermilion sunglow. Do not quote a poem. Do not build a poem product. The photograph is the red face, not a caption contest. Guangdong belongs in the slug and in the body because this is the Guangdong component, not a generic "red rocks of China" page that steals the other live hubs.
Wikipedia describes local signage as a "world famous UNESCO geopark of China." That is a signage sentence. The designation certificate is the UNESCO International Geoscience and Geoparks Programme page: designation date 2015, area 29,200 hectares. Cite both. Do not invent a second list number, and do not invent an earlier year this page did not fetch. Wikipedia also records an AAAAA rating, with no year on that sentence. That is a scenic-status label. It is not a price, and it is not a forever hour table. Confirm live ticket and hours on the official scenic channel. This page does not print a price.
National scenic status, a World Heritage component, and a geopark listing mean marked paths, ticket control, and rules against leaving the path onto wet rock. They do not freeze a 2026 admission price, and they do not guarantee a clear red face. On the morning of the shoot, confirm open hours, last entry, and any transfer running times on the official scenic channel. This page does not publish a forever hour table. I will not invent a 2026 ticket price, a shuttle fare, a boat fare, a licensed-car fare, or a secret unmarked path onto a cliff.
Field work here is humid subtropical Guangdong, on the southern side of the Nan Mountains, parent range Yuecheng Ridge. Wikipedia's climate lines, which this page cites rather than invents, put the annual average at 19.7 °C, the extreme minimum at −5.4 °C, and the extreme maximum at 40.9 °C. July averages 28.3 °C. The coldest month averages 9.5 °C. Sunshine is 1,721 hours a year, about 4.7 hours a day, more from July to September, less from February to April. Precipitation is 1,715 millimetres, on 172 days, with about 75 percent from March to August and about 48 percent from April to June. Relative humidity is 81 percent. Those numbers do not pick a postcard month. They say the path is slick after rain, the air is heavy, and ultraviolet load is high when the cliff opens. Carry water, a layer you can add when a gorge wind starts, and a way to shade the camera back. Stay on the marked route. Do not step onto wet ledges to "clean" a frame. Flying a drone without written scenic and aviation permission is not a plan. If wind, a closing transfer, or slick rock makes the next frame unsafe, leave. A photograph is not worth a fall.
The UNESCO page and the Wikipedia page record wildlife counts. This page does not photograph them. A species portrait and a hide are other products. The hero of this URL is the Guangdong red cliff, the layered bed, and the marked path. Do not buy a seat that sells the day as an animal show. Do not leave the path to follow a movement in the trees. If the official channel posts a wildlife notice, read it as a stay-on-the-path rule, not as a second shoot.
Wikipedia lists stone names that describe a human form, and it mentions built rooms on the mountains. This page does not use those names. It does not photograph a human form in the rock. It does not enter an interior. A gallery caption that says slot canyon is a published label for a narrow red slot. It is not a width, and it is not a license to leave the rail. If the official channel points you at a named rock that sells a silhouette, skip it. The cliff will still be a cliff on the next marked overlook.
LocalKey does not sell group photo tours. LocalKey does not sell a Danxiashan photo-tour SKU. LocalKey does not sell a Guangdong cliff-and-platform combo that herds visitors through three provinces on a whistle. LocalKey does not sell group tours.
Guangdong red cliffs: what you actually shoot
An independent photographer here works eight situations across one full day or, better, a day and a half based within reach of the Renhua gate: red cliff walls and isolated peaks from a marked overlook, layered sandstone and conglomerate at the published bed viewpoint, a gorge with a river already in the frame from a marked bank or a designated boat, a waterfall only if a marked path already faces it, a narrow slot as geometry the path already faces, between-zone red walls from marked pull-offs, late directional light on the red faces inside live closing times, and a second marked overlook if the morning notice still allows it. You choose the order from light and from the transfer notice — not from a tour leader. Confirm which overlooks are open that morning. I will not invent a viewpoint ranking or a guaranteed light hour. Wikipedia prints no elevation for the range. Do not invent a summit height, and do not plan a summit campaign this page cannot cite.
1. Red cliff walls and isolated peaks from a marked overlook. This is the frame the geology already describes. The UNESCO geopark page calls the landscape peaks, pillars, and cliffs of red sandstone, sculpted after an intermountain basin in the Nanling Mountains filled with silt and gravel. The photograph is the face: a red wall, a darker bed, vegetation on a ledge, and sky that does not need a filter gimmick. A moderate wide angle on the marked path holds the wall and the path. A short telephoto (70–200mm) isolates one rank of conglomerate when side light has not yet filled the whole face. Stay on the path. This is not a Hunan peak cluster. Langshan Photography 2026 is the live guide for isolated red-bed towers on a Xinning ridge. Here the mass is the Guangdong type locality, component 1335-006, and the scale is the overlook that already faces it. If mist hides the far edge, do not invent a higher unmarked ledge. The wall will still be a wall on a clearer hour, or on a second morning if your ticket is still live.
2. Layered sandstone and conglomerate at the published bed viewpoint. The UNESCO highlight names Chibidanya as the place to read interlaced sandstone and conglomerate, and it calls that reading 30 million years of geological history in the beds. Cite that sentence. Do not invent a second outcrop and do not invent a walk time to reach it. The photograph, when the official channel still opens that ground, is the stack: pale and red layers, a joint, a grit line, and the cliff that already contains the stack. A short telephoto from the designated step holds two or three beds. A wider lens from the same rail shows the wall those beds belong to. Do not leave the path to put a hand on the grit "for scale." Do not treat 30 million years as a hike you finish before lunch. If that viewpoint is closed, skip it. A closed bed is not a secret trail. This is not a Gansu color platform. Zhangye Danxia Photography 2026 owns colored-ridge light windows. The color here is the red bed of Guangdong, not a stripe product imported from another province.
3. A gorge with a river already in the frame, from a marked bank or a designated boat. The UNESCO page describes imposing gorges through which rivers wind. Wikipedia records a river winding through the mountains on which boat trips can be taken. That is adjacency, and it is a published visitor product, not a fare this page will print. Confirm any boat on the official scenic channel. Do not hire an unmarked craft. Do not turn a gravel bar into a shooting platform the scenic channel has not marked. The photograph, if you are already on the marked bank or already on the designated boat, is the red wall in water: reflection, a dark floor, and the next bend closing the sky. A moderate wide angle holds both the wall and the water. A short telephoto isolates one face when the sun has not yet filled the gorge. This is not the Luxi corridor. Longhushan Photography 2026 is the live Jiangxi river-cliff guide. A Guangdong gorge on this ticket is not that river, and it is not a reason to copy that essay. If the official channel sells the boat as a loop that does not stop, the photograph is the wall you can already see from the seat, not a request to land on unmarked rock. If you only want a river day, that is a different product, not a reason to leave the path.
4. A waterfall only if a marked path already faces a drop the files already describe. The UNESCO page says waterfalls drop dozens of metres. Cite that phrase. Do not invent a name, a metre count, or a ranking. The photograph, when you are already on the marked path and the notice still allows the walk, is the drop as scale against the red wall: white water, a dark hollow, and the rail that already faces it. A short telephoto from the designated step is enough. Do not climb the wet rock to "get under" the spray. Do not treat dozens of metres as a height you must collect. If the stretch is closed, or if the official channel treats the fall as another ticket, skip it. A closed fall is not a secret trail. The walls matter more than a complete checklist of water names.
5. A narrow slot between red walls, as geometry the path already faces. Wikipedia's gallery uses the caption slot canyon for a narrow red opening. This page will not invent a width, and it will not invent a second name. The photograph, when you are already on the marked path and the notice still allows the walk, is the geometry: two walls, a bright gap, and the path that already fits the rail. A moderate wide angle pointed up from a designated step holds the slot. Do not leave the path to stand in a squeeze the rail was built to prevent. Do not climb the wall to make the gap look narrower. If other visitors block the step, wait one minute or take the next marked angle. Expose for the rock and let the sky go bright. That is an honest reading of a red slot. It is not a reason to climb a ledge for a cleaner gap. If that stretch is closed, skip it. A closed squeeze is not a secret trail. This is still Guangdong red cliff. It is not a quartz-sandstone pillar forest, and it is not a granite squeeze on another mountain.
6. Between-zone red walls from marked pull-offs, not a ridge traverse. The scenic ground is not one walking circuit. Component 1335-006 is 16,800 hectares. The geopark file is 29,200 hectares. Neither figure is a boardwalk, and neither figure is a license to drive the crest. For a photographer the road is logistics, not a place to stop on a blind bend. Shoot approaches only from marked pull-offs and designated viewpoints. Do not ask the driver to stop where the curve hides the next vehicle, and do not leave the vehicle to climb a road cut. This is not a ridge traverse. It is the honest gap between ticketed overlooks. A moderate telephoto from a designated pull-off is enough. If there is no marked place to stop, the frame does not exist for this page. Wait for the next platform. Signs for other names may appear on that road. They are other zones. Chishui, Taining, Langshan, Longhushan, Guifeng, and Jianglangshan are other components of the serial property, in other provinces. Zhangye is not on this serial list at all. Do not turn a wrong-gate photograph into this article. Guangzhou is a connecting city to the south. It is not an overlook in Renhua. A Shaoguan hotel sign is not the cliff.
7. Late directional light on the red faces, within live closing times. When the sun drops, or when a bank of cloud finally opens the wall, one face takes warm side light and the next stays in shade. That is the hour worth protecting. It is also the hour that collides with last entry and last transfer. Confirm the morning bulletin. Do not assume you can stay on a ridge after the scenic day closes. Do not treat a lit evening product as this photograph. Lamps, a crowd facing a stage, and rock that no longer reads as cliff are a different picture. This page is daylight landscape. If last light on the main overlook is blocked by closing time, put the late-light slot on another marked overlook only if that overlook's own notice still allows it, and only if your return transfer is real. Wind increases toward evening on an open face. Cap the lens. Leave with the last reliable transfer. The 4.7 hours of average daily sunshine, and the July-to-September sun sentence, are climate lines. They are not a promise that this evening will open.
8. A second marked overlook, or the frame the weather refused, if the ticket still allows it. The files name peaks, pillars, cliffs, gorges, and waterfalls. They do not say all of those names are one ticketed walk, and Wikipedia does not print a summit height. If the morning notice opens a second marked overlook, and energy and the transfer remain, that second path is still this URL only if it is still Guangdong red cliff, layered beds, or a gorge the marked route already faces. If the notice points you at an interior, a silhouette product, or a different rock type, that is another day. Do not use the 16,800 hectare file, or the 29,200 hectare file, to pad a one-hour whistle loop. Both figures describe published areas. Neither figure is your itinerary. Do not invent a cable interval, a walk minute, or a "must-see summit" this page did not fetch. If the weather refused the morning wall, the second session is the same wall on a later light, not a new province.
Logistics between the gate and the path. Confirm on the official channel whether one admission covers the overlooks you intend, and for how many days. Visitor writing often describes a transfer between a station and the cliff door. This page does not print a fare, and it does not assume a transfer ticket lasts as long as the admission ticket. Build the day as stops with waits, not as a continuous hike along the crest. A rushed coach that "covers" the cliff, the river, the silhouette, and every named district in a slideshow is exactly the product this page refuses.
Getting to the cliff without inventing a minute. Wikipedia places Shaoguan East railway station in Zhenjiang District, Shaoguan, Guangdong. It is an intermediate stop on the Beijing–Guangzhou railway and the western terminus of the Ganzhou–Shaoguan railway. On 15 December 2009 the name changed from Shaoguan to Shaoguan East, in preparation for the new Shaoguan railway station. The station building was rebuilt in 2013. Shaoguan railway station is a different stop, published in Wujiang District. Those are two names. Confirm the live train on the official rail channel. Do not collapse them. Do not invent which station is closer to Renhua. Do not invent a high-speed door at the visitor center. Do not invent a taxi minute or a fare. A licensed hop from the station you actually reach is logistics. Guangzhou is a connecting city to the south. Neither Guangzhou nor Shaoguan is the overlook. Base near the gate the morning notice names, not at a distant city hotel that turns the first path into a dawn race.
The stations are not the overlook. Shaoguan East and Shaoguan station are published railway doors. They are not cliff decks. Confirm a licensed hop. Real-name tickets need the passport you will carry to the gate. Do not book a scenic railway named as if it were the path inside the component. The path is the photograph. The train is how you arrive. Payment on the ground is a practical problem, not a ticket price this page invents. Set up Alipay for foreigners before you leave home. Cash may still matter at a window. Do not expect every transfer desk to take an overseas chip card. Hangzhou food stays paused. West Lake is not this trip.
Field safety, slick rock, and equipment. A Guangdong cliff punishes a careless kit. The sun is hard on skin and on the rear screen when the face opens. Spray and rain coat a filter with water and grit. Wipe the front element with a clean cloth, not a shirt. Keep a second cloth sealed. A circular polarizer is useful on a lit wall and a nuisance in a dark trough — decide before you enter the loop. A tripod is useful for late light on a stable deck, and a hazard on a narrow path — collapse it before you move. Spare batteries matter when the air is warm, the humidity is 81 percent, and the screen is bright. The rails at the overlooks are the physical limits. The legal risks are leaving the path, climbing a wall, entering an interior, photographing a human form in the rock as a product, and flying a drone without a permit. Stay on the marked route. If a group blocks a platform, wait or walk to the next rail. The component is large enough if you are not trying to stand in the same postcard spot as everyone else.

What the official files lock for a shoot day
Official files from the UNESCO geopark page, the UNESCO World Heritage list and maps, Wikipedia's Mount Danxia page, and Wikipedia's Danxia landform article set the boundary between an independent Guangdong cliff shoot and a commercial group photo tour, and between this page and the live siblings Langshan Photography 2026, Longhushan Photography 2026, and Zhangye Danxia Photography 2026. I do not invent ticket prices or a frozen timetable. The table uses published language. Confirm the live notice before you travel.

How to shoot the Guangdong cliffs without a photo tour
The independent method is ordinary and slow. Confirm the scenic notice the night before. Sleep close enough that the first usable light is not a race from a distant city. Carry the passport that matches the real-name ticket. Walk the marked overlook the notice still opens. Work one red face until the light has actually moved. Then decide whether a second overlook is still this ticket and still this light. That is the whole method. It does not need a whistle, and it does not need a locked coach that has to clear Renhua before a second province.
Read China group tours or a custom trip if a desk is already offering a "Danxia photography day" that lists Guangdong, Hunan, and Gansu as one loop. Those are three live pages. They are not one ticket. A seat that promises Langshan's towers, Longhushan's river, and Zhangye's platforms on the way to this cliff is selling motion, not a photograph. Stay on this Guangdong component for the days you booked it. Put the other red rocks on their own pages, on their own days, if you still want them.
Light on red conglomerate is simple to say and hard to keep. Soft cloud flattens the beds. Hard noon fills the face and kills the joint lines. The useful hour is side light, which collides with the transfer bulletin. Protect that hour the way you would protect a single marked overlook: arrive early, shoot the face that is already lit, and leave with the last reliable return. Do not invent a golden-hour clock this page did not fetch. The climate lines tell you July to September has more sunshine and that April to June holds a large share of the rain. They do not tell you which morning will open. If the face is in rain, the honest frame is wet rock from the rail, or no frame. It is not a climb.
Do not collect names. The files already give you peaks, pillars, cliffs, gorges, a published bed viewpoint, and waterfalls described only as dozens of metres. That is enough for a day. A coach that treats every painted sign as a stop will leave you with a contact sheet and no file you want to keep. If the morning notice opens only one overlook, shoot that overlook. The other names will not become photographs because a brochure lists them.

Is Danxiashan photography the same as a cliff photo tour?
No. Danxiashan photography is an independent landscape shoot in Renhua, Shaoguan, Guangdong: official ticket, red cliffs from marked overlooks, layered beds if that viewpoint is open, a gorge only from a marked bank or a designated boat, paced by light and by the transfer. A cliff photo tour is a packaged group movement with a fixed stop list. LocalKey does not sell that product. Self-Guided Adventures and Tailor-Made Trips book the practical pieces and leave the camera in your hands.
How does this page differ from Langshan Photography 2026?
Langshan Photography 2026 is the live Hunan Danxia peak-cluster guide. It covers isolated red-bed towers and a linear trough on Xinning ridges, under China Danxia component 1335-005, property 6,600 hectares. This page does not replace it and does not repeat it. Danxiashan is component 1335-006 in Renhua, Shaoguan, Guangdong, property 16,800 hectares. The serial property is shared. The photograph is not. A ridge overlook of an isolated tower is not this Guangdong red cliff. Link Langshan if that is the peak-cluster day you want. Do not ask this URL to become that ridge day, and do not rewrite that hub.
How does this page differ from Longhushan Photography 2026?
Longhushan Photography 2026 is the live Jiangxi Danxia river-cliff guide. It covers the Luxi River corridor and cliff-cut niches as architecture, under China Danxia components 1335-007 and 1335-008. This page does not replace it and does not repeat it. Danxiashan is the Guangdong component, 1335-006. A river may sit in a Guangdong gorge if the marked route already faces it. That water is not the Luxi corridor, and it is not a reason to copy the Jiangxi essay. Link Longhushan if that is the river-cliff day you want. Do not ask this URL to become that river day, and do not rewrite that hub.
How does this page differ from Zhangye Danxia Photography 2026?
Zhangye Danxia Photography 2026 is the live Gansu colored-ridge guide. It covers platforms and light windows on those hills. This page does not replace it and does not repeat it. The word Danxia is shared. Wikipedia states that Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park is not included in the China Danxia World Heritage Site. Danxiashan is one of the six areas of that serial property, in Guangdong. Different province, different ticket, different frames. Link Zhangye if that is the ridge-platform day you want. Do not ask this URL to become that platform day, and do not rewrite that hub.
Is this a UNESCO World Heritage site?
It is a component of one. China Danxia, List 1335, was inscribed in 2010 under decision 34 COM 8B.1 on criteria (vii) and (viii). Danxiashan is one of six areas. The UNESCO maps page and the Wikipedia serial table list it as 1335-006, property 16,800 hectares, buffer 12,400 hectares, at 24°57′55″N 113°42′12″E. The inscribed decision is (vii) and (viii). Do not add criteria, and do not invent a second list number. The same ground is also a UNESCO Global Geopark, designation date 2015, area 29,200 hectares. Those files are not the same boundary, even though 16,800 plus 12,400 equals 29,200. Cite the arithmetic. Do not treat it as one gate.
Why do the area figures disagree?
The files measure different objects, or different published editions of similar objects. The World Heritage component is 16,800 hectares, with a buffer of 12,400 hectares. The geopark page prints 29,200 hectares. Those two component cells add to the geopark figure. An older citation prints about 290 square kilometres, while 29,200 hectares is 292 square kilometres. The serial property total on the maps family is 82,151 hectares. Wikipedia prints a six-region core of 73,945 hectares and a buffer of 65,446 hectares. Cite each figure with its source. Do not invent a single true figure, and do not paste any of them onto a ticket window or a walk you claim to finish.
Why do the age figures disagree?
The current UNESCO geopark page uses 140 to 65 million years ago for the red beds, and 140 to 66 million years ago for the Cretaceous sentence that follows. Wikipedia's mountain page uses 140–65 million years ago, then a rise since six million years ago of about one metre per 10,000 years. The Danxia landform essay, citing an older geopark page and written around this Guangdong mountain, uses around 80 million years ago, faults after another 15 million years, and uplift about 23 million years ago. Those are published disagreements. They are not a puzzle you solve by averaging. Photograph the cliff that is already in front of the rail. Do not paste a late-mature label from another component onto this one.
What am I actually photographing?
Guangdong red cliffs, isolated peaks and pillars from marked overlooks, layered sandstone and conglomerate at the published bed viewpoint if it is open, a gorge and a river only as landscape the marked bank or designated boat already faces, and a waterfall only as a drop the files already call dozens of metres. A narrow slot is geometry. A human form in the rock is not this hero. An interior is not this hero. Wildlife counts are not this hero.
Is the published area a day hike?
No. 16,800 hectares, 12,400 hectares, 29,200 hectares, and about 290 square kilometres are published area figures, and they disagree with each other in the way already cited. None of them is a boardwalk length. The 1,700 kilometre crescent is the serial arc from Guizhou to Zhejiang. It is not a walk from Shaoguan. Shoot from the marked overlook and the designated path. Do not use a hectare total to pad a one-hour whistle loop.
Do I need to climb a summit?
No. Wikipedia's infobox elevation for the range is blank. This page will not invent a height, a stair count, or a cable interval. The photograph is the red face the marked overlook already sees. If the official channel opens a higher deck, confirm that notice that morning. Do not treat a blank elevation cell as a reason to leave the path for a "true top." A summit campaign is a different product. This page is overlooks.
Which gateway is practical?
Shaoguan is the city the UNESCO page places the geopark northeast of. Renhua is the county Wikipedia names for the mountain. Shaoguan East railway station is in Zhenjiang District, an intermediate stop on the Beijing–Guangzhou railway and the western terminus of the Ganzhou–Shaoguan railway, renamed on 15 December 2009. Shaoguan railway station is a different stop in Wujiang District. Confirm the live train. Guangzhou is a connecting city to the south. This page does not publish a taxi minute or a fare. The stations are not overlooks.
Do I need a boat?
No, not as the photograph. Wikipedia records that boat trips can be taken on the river that winds through the mountains. The UNESCO page describes rivers in the gorges. Confirm any boat on the official channel. This page does not print a fare and does not sell a boat interval as the hero. If you are already on a designated boat, the frame is the red wall in the water. Do not ask to land on unmarked rock. If you want a Danxia river corridor as the whole day, that live guide is Longhushan Photography 2026, in Jiangxi, not this Guangdong cliff.
Is Chibidanya a required stop?
No. It is a published viewpoint name on the UNESCO geopark page, for interlaced sandstone and conglomerate and for 30 million years of beds. If the morning notice opens that ground, it is a useful reading of the rock this page already describes. If it is closed, or if it sits on another ticket, skip it. Do not invent a shuttle minute to force it into a whistle loop. The cliff at the overlook you can already reach is still this URL.
What about the stone names that describe a human form?
Skip them. Wikipedia lists names that sell a silhouette. This page does not use those names and does not photograph a human form in the rock. The geology is the cliff, the bed, and the gorge. A silhouette product is not landscape, and it is not a reason to leave the rail. If a coach builds the day around those names, that coach is selling a different picture. Stay on the marked overlook that faces the red wall.
Do I enter built rooms on the mountain?
No. Wikipedia mentions built rooms on the mountains. This page does not enter them and does not photograph interiors. The hero is the exterior cliff and the marked path. If a notice routes a walk past a built room, you stay outside, on the path, and you keep the camera on the rock. An interior is a different product, and it is not this article.
What season works?
Wikipedia's climate lines are the lock, not a brochure month. More sunshine from July to September, less from February to April. About 75 percent of the rain from March to August, and about 48 percent from April to June. July averages 28.3 °C. The coldest month averages 9.5 °C. Extremes run from −5.4 °C to 40.9 °C. Late light on a dry morning is the practical hope. A wet path after an April-to-June fall is the practical risk. No month guarantees a clear face. Confirm live hours. Do not treat 1,721 sunshine hours as a promise for the morning you bought.
Can I photograph animals here?
No. This page is landscape. Wikipedia and the UNESCO files record species counts. A portrait and a hide are other products. Do not leave the path to follow a movement in the trees. If the official channel posts a wildlife notice, read it as a stay-on-the-path rule.
Can I fly a drone?
No, not without written scenic and aviation permission that you already hold. A drone over a red cliff is not a plan this page will describe. The photograph is from the rail, on the marked path, at the height your feet already occupy.
Is a group photo tour cheaper or safer?
A locked coach can look cheaper until you count the frames it skips and the time it spends at a desk. Safety on this ground is staying on the path, behind the rails, and out of unmarked rock — which an independent traveler can do without a whistle. LocalKey does not sell group photo tours. If you want the practical pieces held and the camera left in your hands, use Self-Guided or Tailor-Made. Read China group tours or a custom trip before you buy a seat.
How does this page differ from Yandang Mountain and Huangshan?
Yandang Mountain Photography 2026 is a Zhejiang coastal rhyolite day. Huangshan Photography 2026 is granite peaks and cloud seas. Danxiashan is Guangdong Danxia red beds: a red cliff, a layered stack, and a gorge as adjacency, under China Danxia List 1335 and under a 2015 geopark designation. Link those pages if that is the rock you want. Do not ask this URL to become a sea-facing cliff day or a granite summit day.
Are the other China Danxia areas on this page?
No. Name them so you do not drive to the wrong door. Chishui is the western area, in Guizhou. Taining is another component. Langshan is the Hunan peak-cluster component, and it already has a live page. Longhushan and Guifeng are the Jiangxi sections, and Longhushan already has a live page. Jianglangshan sits toward the eastern end, in Zhejiang. The serial arc is about 1,700 kilometres. This URL is only 1335-006 in Renhua, Shaoguan, Guangdong. Do not build the other components here, and do not paste their essays onto this ticket.
A practical week: Self-Guided or Tailor-Made, not a photo tour
A workable independent block is two nights within reach of the Renhua gate, not a one-hour overlook on the way to another province. Night one: arrive by the rail or the road you confirmed, clear the hop from Shaoguan East or from Shaoguan station — whichever train you actually hold — and read the next morning's notice. Day one: marked overlook at first usable light, layered beds if that viewpoint is open and still this ticket, a gorge or a designated boat only if the official channel still sells it and you still have the path, and late side light only inside the published close. Day two: repeat the frame the weather refused, or leave toward another page on your own itinerary. Do not add a Hunan tower, a Jiangxi river, or a Gansu platform unless their own notices and tickets are live, and do not count them as this URL's content.
Self-Guided Adventures: lodging near the visitor logic at the cliff, rail or road holds you can actually book, real-name scenic reservations on the passport, a roadbook with the path-and-transfer logic, and remote support. You walk the marked paths on your own clock.
Tailor-Made Trips: the same skeleton, plus a private car and driver for the hop from the station you actually use, and for the approaches between marked overlooks if you would rather not wait on a scenic transfer. An optional guide on one day can handle tickets and timing. The guide does not pick the frame.
If you started by searching for a group cliff photo tour, read China group tours or a custom trip before you buy a seat. The walls reward a slow marked interval more than a coach that has three more stops before dinner. If the other stop is a Hunan peak cluster, that day already has a live page. If the other stop is a Jiangxi river cliff, that day already has a live page. If the other stop is a Gansu colored ridge, that day already has a live page. This URL stays the Guangdong red cliff.

If you want the shoot booked, not a photo tour
LocalKey designs independent journeys in China for photographers and travelers who want the practical pieces handled. We do not sell group tours. We do not operate photo-tour coaches. We do not sell a locked cliff whistle loop at this mountain.
Self-Guided Adventures: hotels, verified rail or road holds, real-name tickets, route notes, messaging support. You shoot.
Tailor-Made Trips: the same, with a private car and optional guiding on the days you ask for it.
LocalKey Travel is the independent travel brand of Guangdong Xingcheng International Travel Agency Co., Ltd. (established 2009). The agency name is a company in Guangdong. The mountain on this page is also in Guangdong. They are not the same object. The company does not own the cliff, and the cliff is not a company product. I live in Suzhou. The enquiry line is the same either way.
