The China Intangible Cultural Heritage Digital Museum records 绿茶制作技艺（西湖龙井） as national item Ⅷ-148, second batch, 2008, declared by Hangzhou, Zhejiang. The protection unit named on the listing is the Hangzhou Xihu District Longjing Tea Industry Association. The official description places the craft in the West Lake hills — green colour, clear aroma, sweet taste, flat shape — and names the living hand methods that keep that shape. That is a technique with a place. It is not a souvenir aisle.
Hangzhou's own law keeps the same frame. The Hangzhou West Lake Longjing tea-base protection ordinance draws the protected tea land from Hupao and Maojiabu west to Yangfumiao and Longmenkan, south to Shejing and Fushan, north to Laodongyue and Jinyujing, and splits primary and secondary protection zones. The Hangzhou Culture and Tourism Bureau note on Longwu Tea Town still calls Longwu the largest West Lake Longjing production area and a place to walk the hills and drink. I will not invent a 2026 leaf price or a farm ranking. Those change.

Is West Lake Longjing the same as machine-roasted "Longjing"?
