Yes. Longmen Grottoes — 龙门石窟 — are caves and niches cut into limestone cliffs on both sides of the Yi River, south of Luoyang. That is the sit. A locked coach that sells a "Longmen tour" as West Hill plus East Hill plus a photo stop at every named cave is a different SKU. I am Frank Zhang. The cliffs are a World Heritage listing. The UNESCO World Heritage page for the Longmen Grottoes records the property inscribed in 2000, criteria (i)(ii)(iii), 331 ha plus a 711 ha buffer, dossier 1003, in Luoyang City, Henan Province. The Chinese title on the same page is 龙门石窟. China's National Cultural Heritage Administration page titles the listing 龙门石窟; places the heritage in 河南省洛阳市; lists the same three criteria; dates the inscription to 2000; and places the cliffs on 伊河两岸, 龙门山 and 香山, in Luoyang's southern suburbs. UNESCO's brief synthesis counts more than 2,300 caves and niches along a 1 km stretch, almost 110,000 Buddhist stone statues, more than 60 stupas, and 2,800 inscriptions on steles. NCHA counts 洞窟2300余个, 碑刻题记2800块, 佛塔60余座, 造像近11万尊, and dates the start to Northern Wei 493. You sit one cliff fabric. You do not punch-card both hills and every named cave in one timed morning.
The listing is two hills on one river, not one combo ticket day
UNESCO keeps East Hill and West Hill under one 2000 file. NCHA names the same banks as 龙门山 and 香山. Keep the fabric as one sit when you plan the day. A brochure that stacks every cave into one timed loop is a group product.

I will not invent a 2026 ticket price, an opening-hour table, a bus number, a visitor count, a statue height, or a ranked "best cave." Those change. UNESCO and NCHA keep the criteria, 河南省洛阳市, the Yi River / 伊河, 龙门山 and 香山, 2000, 331 ha / 711 ha buffer, 2,300+ caves, ~110,000 statues, 493 on the NCHA file, and the named caves on the UNESCO brief. That is the lock.

How to sit without a Longmen tour
Go toward 河南省洛阳市 as NCHA places it: Luoyang, Henan, southern suburbs on the Yi River. The official files do not publish a 2026 bus number or a gate price on those pages, so I will not invent either. Arrive at one cliff approach. Walk the path the site already uses toward one open hill. Sit if a terrace is open. Say 龙门石窟, or a named fabric — 奉先寺, 古阳洞, 宾阳 — if you need a word. Photograph only if the site allows it. Do not buy a locked departure that sells West Hill plus East Hill as stop one through two on a commission day.
Pay by QR for a ticket if the site uses QR. Set up Alipay for foreigners before you want the day, not at the gate. Cash still appears in smaller rooms. Do not count on English on every path.

Is Longmen the same as Dazu, Mogao, or Xi'an?
No. Longmen is caves on both banks of the Yi River south of Luoyang — UNESCO 1003, 2000, criteria (i)(ii)(iii). Dazu is five clusters in Dazu District, Chongqing, under a different 1999 file. Mogao is painted cave temples at Dunhuang. Xi'an is a different city. The sister sits are Dazu Rock Carvings 2026, Dunhuang Mogao Caves 2026, and Xi'an culture 2026. Do not buy a "Luoyang plus Xi'an grotto" combo that these files do not make.
Do I need a Longmen tour to see the cliffs?
