Yes. Mount Emei — 峨眉山 — is a temple mountain you walk: more than 30 temples on one Sichuan massif, where China's first Buddhist temple was built in the 1st century CE. That is the sit. A locked coach that sells "Emei" as a Golden Summit cable-car stop plus the Leshan Buddha the same afternoon is a different SKU. I am Frank Zhang. The mountain is one half of a mixed World Heritage listing. The UNESCO World Heritage page for Mount Emei Scenic Area, including Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area records the property inscribed in 1996, criteria (iv)(vi)(x), 15,400 ha plus a 46,900 ha buffer, dossier 779, serial yes. I will not invent a 2026 ticket price, an opening-hour table, a bus number, a visitor count, a cable-car fare, or a ranked "best trail." Those change. UNESCO and NCHA keep the criteria, the hectares, 四川省乐山市, the 1st-century temple start, more than 30 temples, Wannian's 7.85 m Puxian bronze, Qingyin, Baoguo, Fuhu / 伏虎寺, Huazang in 1614, the 15,400 ha mountain versus the 17.88 ha cliff, and the 71 m Leshan figure on the other sit. That is the lock.
This page is Sichuan — 四川, Leshan City (乐山市) as NCHA places it. It is not the Leshan cliff Buddha and it is not Qingcheng's Taoist halls. Do not collapse a Buddhist temple mountain into a cliff-Buddha SKU or a Taoist birthplace listing because both sit near Chengdu.
How to sit without an Emei tour
Go toward 乐山市 as NCHA places it: Leshan City, Sichuan. The official files do not publish a 2026 bus number or a gate price on those pages, so I will not invent either. Arrive at one mountain approach. Walk one temple path the site already uses. Sit if a hall, pavilion, or platform is open. Say 峨眉山, or a named complex — 万年寺, 清音阁, 报国寺, 伏虎寺 — if you need a word. Photograph only if the site allows it. Do not buy a locked departure that sells the Golden Summit cable car plus the Leshan cliff as stop one through two on a commission day.
Pay by QR for a ticket if the site uses QR. Set up Alipay for foreigners before you want the day, not at the gate. Cash still appears in smaller rooms. Do not count on English on every path.

峨眉山 does not need its own coach day stacked between a city viewpoint and a shopping hard-sell. It can sit as one quiet walking day inside a Chengdu or Sichuan week you already chose — next to Leshan Giant Buddha only if you want a second, separate craft sit, not a combo SKU. Keep this as one mountain path, not a fifth attraction pasted between shopping stops.
