Yes. Guilin in Guangxi is a karst city you sit with in 2026, not a group Li River cruise. The search "Guangxi" or "Guilin" is a region question. UNESCO already named the towers and cones. Karst is the official frame, not a cruise
UNESCO's South China Karst is a serial property across four provinces. Guilin Karst is a Guangxi component, inside Lijiang National Park, added in the 2014 Phase II extension. The brief names fenglin (tower karst) and fengcong (cone karst). Two sections: Putao, 2,840 hectares with a 21,610-hectare buffer; Lijiang, 22,544 hectares with a 23,070-hectare buffer. That is the official landform. Guangxi also holds Huanjiang Karst, a cone cluster inside Mulun National Nature Reserve. Two clusters in one autonomous region. Not one boat ticket.
Guilin's 2026 world-class tourism city meeting (31 March 2026) put Li River basin ecology first: rectify, keep a standing protection mechanism, then talk about culture and outdoor days. The city's 2024 plan report records the same river as Class II on the main stem, an annual 4·25 Li River Protection Day, and Guilin Karst on a world geological-heritage list. This is not Huangshan granite. That ridge is stone steps and cloud, on Huangshan hiking and photography 2026. Guilin is limestone towers in a humid basin. Do not paste a Yellow Mountain dawn onto this river.
Town life: a bowl, a play, a street
In 2021 the State Council published the fifth batch of national intangible-heritage items (国发〔2021〕8号). The China Intangible Cultural Heritage Digital Museum records 米粉制作技艺（桂林米粉制作技艺） — Guilin rice-noodle making — as item Ⅷ-277, declared by Guilin, Guangxi. The Guangxi Culture and Tourism Department says the same: listed in 2021; the protection unit is the Guilin Drama Creation Research Institute (Guilin ICH Protection and Inheritance Centre). You walk into a shop. You order a bowl. You do not tour the noodle.
桂剧 is older on the list. The ICH Digital Museum records it as a national item: a Guangxi local opera, sung in Guilin dialect. The Guangxi Drama Theatre names 桂剧, 壮剧, and 彩调 as national-list forms it exists to keep. Guilin's culture bureau describes the municipal ICH centre and a "桂林有戏" evening if one is on. Sit if a bill is posted. Do not buy a "show plus river" combo.

I will not invent a 2026 menu price or a shop ranking. The Guangxi government ninth-batch provincial list (桂政发〔2023〕22号) adds more Guilin crafts — 桂林石画, 桂林山水雅集, 桂林童谣 — if you want a second room. That is enough. Do not treat Dongxi Lane as a night-market checklist.

Guangxi is an autonomous region. Guilin is one city inside it. The search "Guangxi" often wants the whole map: Guilin plus a coast, plus a Zhuang village, plus a second karst cluster. That is a dump. Pick Guilin as the coming dest this page will name — dest slug guilin — and give it nights.
Yunnan is the neighbouring culture region with its own corridors. That sit is one plateau week, not a second karst add-on, on Yunnan China 2026. Xi'an is a wall and a food street, a different capital, on Xi'an 2026. Do not stack them because a brochure used the word landscape twice.
Lingqu in Xing'an is a Qin canal that still links Xiang and Li water. NCHA's tentative-list reset already named 灵渠 under Guangxi. Guangxi Water Resources records a 2018 world irrigation-heritage listing and a 2026 World Canal Congress the city is preparing. One canal day is a layer. It is not the reason to come, and it is not a substitute for sitting with the towers.
