Yes. Xishuangbanna — 西双版纳, Xīshuāngbǎnnà — in 2026 is a Dai courtyard sit: a town street in Jinghong, a dry-column house, a tropical stall, tea hills as the background. That is the culture. A locked coach that sells "the rainforest" as a boardwalk, an elephant stop, and a third famous name is a different SKU.

The prefecture is a Dai town, not a rainforest circuit
Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture is the official frame. The prefecture's own festival brief names the Dai calendar that still runs the year: 桑堪比迈 — the Water-Splashing Festival, Dai New Year — then 豪瓦萨 (the rain-retreat, often called the Closing-Door Festival) and 奥瓦萨 (the Opening-Door Festival). That is a living year. It is not a show timetable.
The Water-Splashing Festival is national intangible heritage, declared by this prefecture. The China ICH Digital Museum records 傣族泼水节 as 浴佛节; in Dai it is 比迈, new year, held in the sixth month of the Dai calendar, around Qingming. The file names what the week actually holds: splashing, 赶摆 (the fair), dragon-boat racing, bathing the Buddha, chanting, 章哈 singing, peacock dance, white-elephant dance. Sit if you are already in town that week. Do not buy a "rainforest plus water party" combo. I will not invent a 2026 ticket or a parade hour.
The house craft is already on the national list from this prefecture. 傣族织锦技艺 — Dai brocade — is second-batch national ICH (Ⅷ-106, 2008), declared by Xishuangbanna. The file is courtyard work: lotus, areca, peacock, elephant, stupa on a loom. The National Ethnic Affairs Commission second-batch minority list keeps the same prefecture for 贝叶经制作技艺 (palm-leaf scripture), 召树屯与喃木诺娜 (the Dai narrative), and 傣族象脚鼓舞 (elephant-foot drum dance). Watch a loom if a door is open. Listen if a drum is working.
The forest is a protection order, not the product. Yunnan Provincial Forestry and Grassland Administration records 云南西双版纳国家级自然保护区 across Jinghong, Mengla, and Menghai: five sectors — 勐养, 勐仑, 尚勇, 勐腊, 曼稿 — 242,510 hectares. Founded 1958; national in 1986; UNESCO Man and the Biosphere in 1993. The job is tropical rainforest, monsoon forest, Asian elephant, and 望天树. That is the setting. A boardwalk is a transfer if you already chose one open sector. A locked "rainforest tour" with a lecture at every canopy is not the day.
Xishuangbanna is not a LocalKey destination hub. Do not invent a dest slug. Destination China. Culture only. Lijiang is a different place, already named for northwest Yunnan. Do not bolt this courtyard onto a Lijiang night.
Courtyard life: a house, a fair, a tea-hill road
Stay in Jinghong if you want the town and a nearby village on the same nights. Give the courtyard nights. A day-trip sandwich that treats the prefecture as a rainforest loop plus a photo stop is the product this page is not.
The house is 干栏 — a raised timber-and-bamboo courtyard. Prefecture culture-and-tourism reporting on 曼贺纳古寨, in Jinghong's 曼弄枫 street, is the official courtyard picture: dry-column houses, golden Dai wells, a lane, 赶摆 when it is on, brocade and papermaking if a room is working, Dai script if someone is teaching it. Walk in if the door is open. Sit. Eat. Leave when the street starts selling the village back to you. I will not invent a 2026 inn price or a village ranking. One courtyard is enough. Do not punch a card of three "ancient stockades."
The tropical market is 赶摆, not a fruit-tour SKU. The same festival file and the ICH brief put the fair on river flats or a paddy floor: shade sheds, drums, stalls. On an ordinary morning, sit at a working stall. Point. Pay. Do not buy a locked "morning market experience." Crossing-bridge noodles stay on their own table — Mengzi origin, often eaten in Kunming.
The tea hills are the setting, not the sit. Menghai County is on the NEAC list for 普洱茶制作技艺 (贡茶制作技艺、大益茶制作技艺). You will pass tea on the road west of Jinghong. Pass it. If you already want a cake, that is the other page — one table, a pick, later steeps. Do not add a plantation because a brochure called this prefecture the hometown of Pu'er.

How this sits in a Self-Guided or Tailor-Made week
Stay in Jinghong if you already chose the Dai south and want the courtyard and the stall on the same streets. A car earns its keep to a village lane or along a tea-hill road. Do not do Jinghong plus a rainforest park plus a Menghai factory as a day-trip sandwich. The Yunnan region page is one corridor: Lijiang, the Hani terraces, or Kunming plus Shilin. This prefecture is a fourth geography if you already chose it — not a fifth name stacked on that dump, and not a Lijiang night.
